NEWTON-STEWART
LET OF CUSTOMS

The custom dues exacted by the burgh of Wigtown on all sheep, cattle, and wool which "cross the Cree" at Newton-Stewart were let by public auction on Friday afternoon. The upset price was £40, and after competition between the former and present tacksmen it was ultimately knocked down to the former (Mr McCracken) at £70— a decrease on last year's rent of £10.
