THUNDERSTORM

A thunderstorm of unusual violence passed over this district on Friday evening. It commenced about 7.30, and passed in a south-easterly direction. The peals of thunder were most terrific, and louder than anything ever heard before, while the lightning was vivid. Rain fell heavily for about half an hour. About an hour and a half after we had a recurrence of the same, returning in the direction in which it had gone, the lightning in the second instance being much more violent and vivid, Fortunately it soon passed off without any damage.
