Peter Stroyan, the oldest man in Minnigaff parish, died at his residence in Minnigaff on Saturday at the age of 97. He was 68 years married: his wife survives him. He was 45 years sexton in Minnigaff Parish Church, 15 years with the Rev. Mr Maitland—Rev. Mr Johnstone's predecessor—and 30 years with Mr Johnstone. the present minister. During these years he buried nearly 2000 persons. He kept a diary, and every funeral which took place in the Churchyard was carefully entered. Was thoroughly acquainted with every grave, and could readily tell who had been buried in any grave during his term. Rev. Mr Johnstone visiting him the day he died, remarked that that day 40 years he had taken him for the first time through amongst his parishioners. The old man resigned 10 years ago on account of failing health, his son having succeeded him. and for the last 5 years was bedridden. He was much about his usual until a day or so before he died.
