GAME PROSPECTS

It would appear from what we have just learned, at least in our immediate neighbourhood, that game are fairly numerous. On the Penninghame estate last year the game was preserved, and the Earl of Galloway retains the Cumloden shooting, on which a sufficient number of birds were left. The season was favourable for hatching, and grouse are reported numerous and strong; black game a fair average. We have no definite account as to partridge, but pheasants are also pretty numerous.
