STORM

On Saturday evening, a storm of unusual severity began to blow, accompanied with heavy rain, and continued till about four o'clock on Sabbath morning. The streets on Saturday evening were soon cleared, but one woman was caught in the gale at the Bridge. end, and unable to resist the storm, was carried a distance of 100 yards, and ultimately blown down. A very large number of trees have been torn up by their roots. Chimney-cans, slates, and sign-hoards were blown down The force of the wind drove the rain under the doors, and through the windows, in cases where it was thought impossible. The Cree on Sabbath morning rose to about its extreme height, but nothing more serious has happend.
